A Small Tribute to Scott Adams

Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, passed away today. Beyond the comic, I really liked his books. They had a big impact on how I think.

One of the main things I learned from reading his work is how quickly you can influence your own mind—and other people’s minds—just by how you put words together. The way you frame a situation, the specific language you choose, and the perspective you use can completely transform how that situation looks and feels.

Change the words, and you change the point of view. Change the point of view, and you change your mind.

That’s a powerful lesson I picked up from Scott Adams, and it’s one that’s stuck with me.
